Yellow Hyacinth Orchid (Dipodium hamiltonianum)

Flowers in Summer (Dec - Mar), favours ridges and slopes of a dry sclerophyll forest habitat in full sun.  In Victoria these are considered endangered.

The plant is leafless, flower is a green to yellow colour with reddish spots.  The photo ruler indicates the height of this particular plant - a total of 15 inches (38cm) although other plants nearby were up to 60cm.

Pollination has been studied very little but it is thought that the native bees and wasps are pollinators.
