White Daddy Long-legs (Jonesiopsis capillata - formerly Caladenia filamentosa var tentaculata)

Flowers in Spring (Aug - Oct), widespread but sporadic, soils varying from sandy to clayey.

This spider orchid's dorsal sepal naturally leans forward over the labellum area.  The photo ruler indicates the height of this particular plant - a total of 7.5 inches (8.5cm).

Pollination of the Jonesiopsis species has been studied very little but it is thought that spider orchids are generally pollinated by pseudocopulation (male thynnid wasp).

Wallflower Orchid (Diuris orientis)

Flowers in Spring (Sept - Nov), favours grassy eucalypt and heathy forest.

This orchid is also known as 'Donkey Orchid'.  The photo ruler indicates the height of this particular plant - a total of 4.5 inches (11cm).

Pollination of the Diuris appears to be mainly by small bees; flowers appear to mimic other plants nearby.
